Pitti Immagine Uomo Announces Moschino by Jeremy Scott as Menswear Guest Designer

by William Buckley

As the 88th edition of the Florentine fair draws closer, the buzz surrounding the increasingly extensive and astonishing lineup of events has begun with a considerable bang. The headliner, the menswear guest designer, who will succeed the likes of Marni, Z Zegna, Diesel Black Gold and Kenzo, will be storied Italian fashion house Moschino. The brand, whose innovative fashion audacity has been celebrated since its inception, will present its men’s collection in Italy for the first time since creative director Jeremy Scott took the reigns in 2013.

“In Jeremy Scott’s collections, we see the humor, the irreverence, the tendency to explode myths, and the manipulation of pop iconography – all that we knew to be part of Franco Moschino’s spirit and designs,” says Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine. “There is also lots of originality in his work – he seems to have a sort of special-sensor focused on our times – in the way he combines fabrics and materials, especially the finest types, because his designs are luxurious. And that is the reason behind our invitation. In addition to Jeremy Scott and Moschino, I would like to thank the Gruppo Aeffe and the Ferretti family in particular.”

Moschino has been part of the Aeffe fashion group since 1999.

Other line-up announcements include: Thomas Tait, the London-based Canadian fashion designer, as women’s wear guest designer; Il Signor Nino, the first-ever exhibition dedicated to Nino Cerruti, his products, ideas and style, presented by the Fondazione Pitti Discovery; and Carlo Brandelli, the Anglo-Italian designer and creative director of Kilgour, who will be making his Italian debut as the Pitti Uomo 88 Designer Project.
