Retail Employees Describe Working Conditions As Coronavirus Panic Heightens Nationwide

U.S. retail workers are under intense pressure to keep shelves stocked amid a rash of panic buying over coronavirus concerns, according to interviews with 20 employees of Walmart, Target, and CVS. Employees also expressed fears about getting sick and missing work due to what they described as strict attendance policies and limited or no paid sick leave. “At Target, we’ve been prioritizing our team, starting by ensuring that all of our China-based team members have been able to work from home,” Target CEO Brian Cornell said during a call with investors earlier this week. “More broadly, we spent considerable time focused on the best way to support our team members all around the world to make sure they stay healthy and safe.
