SCHMOOZING | ROBERT TALBOTT CELEBRATES 75TH IN ITS NEW NYC SHOWROOM
Robert Talbott celebrated its 75th anniversary in its new New York showroom last night. The event was hosted by Creative Director Sebastian Dollinger, featuring cocktails and new styles. The brand, which was founded in 1950, has undergone a refresh in the last few years under new management, culminating in its latest collection.
“One of the many exciting things we’re doing for the brand’s 75th anniversary,” explains Robert Talbott SVP, Merchandising and Design, Nick Picchione, “is a whole made-in-America initiative, reflecting the made-in-America heritage of the Robert Talbott company, with its original facility in Monterey, California and original fabrics cut and sewn by company co-founder Audrey Talbott. We got the last rolls of original cotton shirting fabric and had it crafted in a New York factory into iconic button-down collar shirts with pocket, box pleat, locker loop—the way I wore shirts in college. These are shirts that get even better with age.”

Do you suppose that Mr. &Mrs. Talbott would be disappointed at how few men wore neckties to the celebration? Hmm.
Audrey and Robert were super modern for their time …. They would understand fashion changes. BTW… the creative Director is wearing a tie in the first picture.
Bob, understand that the Talbotts were forward thinking. Quite simply, my thought was that given that neckwear was the foundation of their business, giving a nod to that legacy was appropriate.
