American denim brand 7 For All Mankind, a division of Delta Galil Industries, has named British fashion designer Simon Spurr as its new global creative director, effective immediately.

Spurr joins 7 For All Mankind from Isaia’s younger Eidos brand, where he served as creative director since November 2017. His first collection for 7 For All Mankind will launch in spring 2020 as the brand celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Spurr brings more than 20 years of expertise from leading brands including Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and his own namesake collection. Over the last two decades, he has built a career in the designer and contemporary markets and has acquired a 360-degree perspective of the design process, from initial concept, to the design and production of full lifestyle collections. Spurr has been recognized by the industry as an FGI Rising Star Award Winner, and was a multiple CFDA Menswear Award Nominee, a CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Nominee and a GQ Best Menswear Award Nominee, among others.

In his new role, Spurr will lead the global teams with a new vision for product that bridges 7 For All Mankind’s heritage as a premium denim brand with a new, modern approach across classifications. He will be located in Los Angeles where his team of direct reports has been strategically assembled with design talent that reflects the brand’s new product strategy.

Reporting directly to Spurr will be 7 For All Mankind women’s design director Larissa Noble and men’s design director Wes Austin. Margaret Maldonado, a co-founder of L’Agence, has joined the company as senior design director of women’s ready-to-wear reporting to Ms. Noble.

Alessandra Pesavento, formerly of Diesel, has also joined the international team today as director of design and merchandising. Pesavento will be based at the 7 For All Mankind international offices in Mendrisio, Switzerland and will be responsible for executing Spurr’s creative direction with product that is locally relevant to the consumers in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“We are very excited to welcome such a strong and proven creative talent as Simon,” said Tim Baxter, chief executive officer of Delta Galil Premium Brands. “He brings the perfect balance of relevant experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and fashion vision to lead 7 For All Mankind into its third decade. Importantly, Simon also has a strong, directional perspective on how we can modernize the brand and position it for accelerated growth while sustaining our legacy as a premium denim brand.”

“I have long-admired 7 For All Mankind as a leader in the premium denim category and iconic brand that is beloved by consumers across generations,” added Spurr. “I am excited to join the company and lead an incredible team of exceptional designers, as we look to expand the brand with new opportunities.”
