SPONSORED PROFILE: GEOX – CONTEMPORARY DESIGN MEETS CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY

Nearly 25 years ago, Mario Moretti Polegato, founder and President of Geox, conceived a revolutionary solution for aching feet. Piercing the rubber soles of his shoes to allow his feet to breathe ultimately led to the creation of ultra-comfortable footwear with perforated soles. This was the first of many high-tech solutions based on testing in both real-world and extreme environments, from racing circuits to ski slopes.

Today, Geox (GEO is the Greek word for “earth,” X the symbol for advanced technology) is a well-respected Italian company with a strong technological slant, famous for its outstanding production of footwear and casual apparel. Its achievements are based on relentless research into innovative solutions that deliver breathability, thermo-regulation, waterproofing and cushioning. Protected by 55 patents and 11 patent applications, Geox continues to break new ground for the sake of people’s well-being. While the concept of personal well-being has taken on new meaning of late, extending to social and environmental sustainability, Geox has evolved with the concept. Their fall-winter ‘22 men’s outerwear and footwear collections are for modern men keenly aware of how their choices impact the environment.

Key features of fall ’22 outerwear include fresh colors (warm autumnal shades, pop brights, nature-inspired greens and blues, soft neutrals), recycled fabrics and linings, and Ecologic warm padding. This unique padding is produced by GRS-certified and derived from recycled materials. Numerous on-trend outerwear models range from sophisticated city styles in soft neutrals to streetwear-inspired hooded jackets (linear silhouettes in glossy patent with graphic details).  Notable outerwear highlights include breathable and water-repellent styles such as the SPHERICA hooded jacket, featuring recycled padding, and the AMPHIBIOX parka, which boasts the technological details unique to Geox’s AMPHIBIOX collections, such as a totally waterproof membrane, sealed seams, and coated zips. Clearly, there’s something for everyone in this extensive, well-conceived, fashion-meets-function collection.

Sustainable Geox models

Geox men’s footwear also benefits from technological research that guarantees breathability, thermo-regulation and waterproofing in all offerings. Respect for the environment is key: in addition to ECONYL, a regenerated and regenerable nylon yarn, Geox introduces VEGEA, a material characterized by a high content of renewable and recycled vegetable materials. (VEGEA is actually made with grape leftovers from winemaking, vegetable oils and natural fibers from agriculture.)

SPHERICA styles continue to be at the forefront of the brand’s innovative footwear collections, incorporating breathable waterproof outsoles equipped with a Zero-Shock System and cushioning layers over the entire surface. This season, the iconic knit version is enriched with new colors and new approaches with a color block sole. Both the new knit and felt versions are sustainable, the first being made of recycled PET deriving from used plastic bottles and the second made of recycled materials treated to be water-repellent. Check out too Geox’s more formal footwear in the SPHERICA line, including Derby shoes and ankle boots in calfskin, with either laces or an elasticated side panel. Classic, but with a definite edge.

AMPHIBIOX sneakers

A key design this season is the new SPHERICA 4×4 ABX, which merges the comfort of SPHERICA technology with Geox’s patented AMPHIBIOX technology. The sneakers are made of jacquard fabric that incorporates the outlines of the iconic traditional version while the ankle boot, the season’s product hero, is made of extremely soft tumbled leather and has a cozy collar that recalls the pattern of the sneakers.

Footwear styles for fall ’22 – pictured at top – also include retro tennis-inspired sneakers (entirely made of recycled materials in the upper, sole, lining, insole and laces) and sophisticated leather sneakers with a refined aesthetic (elevated by natural vegetable-tanned hides sourced from certified tanneries).

Bottom line, in addition to creating fabulous fashion, Geox has truly embraced a pursuit of well-being: for the individual, for the environment and for society as a whole. As a consumer, you can wear their exceptional products with much pride. As a retailer, you can sell them with confidence, knowing you’re doing your part to create a better world.
