STANCE LAUNCHES COLLECTION WITH ARTIST JULIAN KLINCEWICZ

by Stephen Garner

Stance has released a capsule collection and a limited-edition box set by San Diego-based artist Julian Klincewicz called “More News from Nowhere”. The box set, which features three sock styles and a premium “ButterBlend” t-shirt, also comes with a cassette tape featuring a music recording from Julian, and a folded zine featuring photos he’s taken through his travels around the world.

Klincewicz is the first collaboration for Stance’s ‘Untitled’ artist program in 2020. The aim of ‘Untitled’ is to highlight artists that inspire the brand and produce functional art and wearable extensions of an artist’s studio practice. This year’s ‘Untitled’ program will also feature artists like Matt McCormick and Cody Hudson, among others.

Klincewicz’s collection is inspired by the exploration of emotional and physical space and utilizes simple graphic elements such as the Sun, Moon and Earth as both literal and romantic representations of space. On a deeper level, “More News from Nowhere” is a dive into the transitory space of the creative process; specifically, the dynamic between the introverted and extroverted natures of creativity, the balance between passive and active participation in inspiration, and a challenge to find beauty in all things.

“With Untitled, Stance wanted to create a platform for artists that would enable them to share their creative vision in a unique way,” said Albie Rosario, vice president of business development at Stance. “We couldn’t be happier that Julian’s project kicks off Untitled this year, and we’re honored to bring his art to new canvasses with this exclusive box set.”

The collection is available exclusively on Stance.com and in select Stance retail stores.
