by John Russel Jones

Streetwear and sneaker legend Jeff Staple will open Staple 21 Mercer, the brand’s first-ever retail store, in New York City’s SoHo district tomorrow, Friday, March 14th, 2025. The store will include Staple’s signature apparel, accessories, and curated products from other select brands.

Founded in 1997, Staple is a New York-based brand deeply rooted in music, art, sports, and street culture. The store will be located at 21 Mercer Street, a historic destination for sneakerheads, the former location of NikeLab, which had occupied the space since 2008.

A pioneer in sneaker and streetwear culture, Jeff Staple is best known for designing the iconic Nike SB Pigeon Dunk. He is also the founder of creative agency Reed Art Department and the author of Jeff Staple: Not Just Sneakers (Rizzoli), a book chronicling his 25+ year journey in the industry.

Coinciding with the grand opening, Staple and leading performance running brand Brooks will officially release the Brooks x Staple Adrenaline 4 GTS. The sneaker marks Brooks’ first heritage lifestyle release in Staple’s signature gray, white, and pigeon pink colorway.

On Thursday evening, March 13th, a grand opening celebration will bring together NYC’s creative community, including DJs, chefs, and sneaker/streetwear culture, for an evening of food, drinks, and entertainment. Va$htie and DJ Shu G will provide sound. Food and beverages will be from Chinatown’s iconic Nom Wah Tea Parlor, Romeo’s, and Boba Guys. Bimma Williams, an independent collab marketing educator and the founder/creative Director of boutique agency Collab Lab Host will co-host the evening.
