SUNSPEL TEAMS UP WITH THE IAN FLEMING ESTATE FOR WINTER

by Stephen Garner

Sunspel has teamed up with the Ian Fleming estate for autumn/winter ‘20, launching an exclusive menswear range designed in homage to the eminent author, using the same rare cotton he so loved.

The new Sunspel Ian Fleming collection takes inspiration from the author’s James Bond novels. The British brand has dressed Fleming’s iconic character, while he himself was famously an advocate of the Sea Island cotton Sunspel uses in its most luxurious garments. Bond can be found wearing Sea Island cotton shirts in Moonraker, Diamonds Are Forever, and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Sunspel’s relationship with Bond goes further than just fabrics. When costume designer Lindy Hemming was asked to dress Daniel Craig as a rebooted Bond in the 2006 film Casino Royale, she came to Sunspel. Working with the team in our Long Eaton factory, Hemming took a luxury polo shirt we’d been producing since the 1950s and tailored it to suit Craig’s physique. And the reimagined Riviera Polo Shirt has been made to Bond’s specifications ever since.

The collection features five styles –– a Sea Island Cotton Shirt, Wool Cashmere Suit, Scottish Cashmere Cotton Knit, Scottish Merino Wool Cardigan, and Harris Tweed Crombie Coat, is now available exclusively at Sunspel.com and Sunspel’s SoHo store at 85 Mercer Street. Prices in the collection range from $295 to $825.
