TEXWORLD TO FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY IN FASHION AT ITS NEW YORK SHOW NEXT WEEK

by Stephen Garner

Texworld USA, co-located with Apparel Sourcing USA, will take place at the Javits Convention Center in New York City on Monday, July 22 through Wednesday, July 24.

Offering an impressive range of textiles thanks to a worldwide network of partners, Texworld USA also boasts a new educational conference straight from Berlin. For one day only, visitors can hear from industry leaders from Walmart, PVH Corp, Athleta and more covering topics like circularity, traceability, and innovation.

Dubbed “Fashionsustain”, the conference will focus on the promotion of sustainable practices and is designed to offer insightful information for every segment of the industry. The conference will kick off the trade show on Monday.

This summer’s spotlight on sustainability comes with an understanding that fashion’s impact on global carbon emissions, water, and chemical pollution is substantial. Some highlights from this edition include a brief speech by Liz Hershfield, head of product development, production and sustainability digital consumer brand incubation at Walmart e-commerce, where she will share her insights on what’s to come of sustainable practices in fashion and apparel.

Further, a conversation highlighting the challenges and opportunities apparel and accessories brands have on managing their supply chains will take place. Learn how to start to map your supply chain, what types of market value supply chain visibility enables and the technologies helping brands achieve greater transparency.

And, a panel of experts will dive in and discuss circularity, the efforts to reduce GHG emissions, processing textiles, and will share insights on the positive steps to be made to improve the environmental profile.

“We’re very excited to have Fashionsustain as a part of this year’s show,” said Jennifer Bacon, show director of Texworld USA / Apparel Sourcing USA. “Sustainability isn’t just a buzz word anymore. It’s a real issue that consumers are looking for answers to and companies need to adapt. We’re honored to host the platform that will harness and educate our attendees on patterns of consumption and use, and how to move forward, and adopt better practices.”

Registration is now open. Seating for Fashionsustain is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Get specific show details and the full seminar schedule at www.TexworldUSA.com or www.ApparelSourcingshow.com.
