For his first collaboration with Converse, menswear designer Todd Snyder takes on the Jack Purcell sneaker style with an irreverent yet elevated collection that embraces the spirit of ‘Jackness.’

With its debut in 1935, the Jack Purcell was designed in collaboration with the world-class badminton player, whose name it bears, to enhance the standard of on-court footwear. Today, the sneaker is identified by its instantly recognizable “smile” on the toe, offering a cheeky-yet- classic style statement informed by Jack Purcell’s nickname “The Smiler” and its long history of enjoying the good life across a broad collection of activities like court sports, boating, and golfing.

The new Converse x Todd Snyder Jack Purcell collection includes both footwear and apparel. For footwear, the Jack Purcell sneaker materializes with a tonal suede and canvas upper in two classic colorways – Obsidian and Egret- with contrasting eyelets and a cork sockliner to elevate the classic low-cut silhouette against its remastered high traction herringbone rubber sole.

Meanwhile, the apparel capsule is rooted in a signature Todd Snyder plaid motif and bold ‘Jack Purcell Racquet Club’ graphics emblazoned across timeless silhouettes like a Harrington jacket, polo, crew neck, and rugby, that are rooted in the champion footwear icon, as well as joggers and a cap.

“I’m thrilled to work with a brand like Converse, who creates iconic silhouettes like the Jack Purcell, a court classic with almost 100 years of history,” said Snyder. “I love the idea of the rebel athlete who plays by their own rules, and wanted to create a collection that feels classic, but offers something a bit unexpected and irreverent.”

“The Jack Purcell boasts a unique persona in our footwear lineup and it’s exciting to see Todd Snyder embrace the attitude of the silhouette to present the most cohesive collection of apparel inspired by the court classic to date,” added Jon Tappan, VP/GM Global Apparel at Converse. “Todd effortlessly combines the craftsmanship and irreverence of Converse with his quintessential sensibility and classicism on a distinctly elevated assortment of footwear and apparel.”

The accompanying Converse x Todd Snyder campaign celebrates the spirit of “Jackness” and spotlights a collective of individuals who each embody the spirit of a champion, while breaking barriers in their fields —from WNBA star and Converse athlete Natasha Cloud, to Olympic fencer Miles Chamley-Watson, to ballet dancer James Whiteside, to legendary producer DJ Clark Kent and 17-year-old skateboarder and Converse athlete, Bryce Wettstein.

The Converse x Todd Snyder Jack Purcell collection will launch globally on May 20th on,, Todd Snyder retail doors, and select retailers.
