Todd Snyder has teamed up with J. Press to create a new downtown twist on iconic collegiate styles.
The Todd Snyder x J. Press collaboration consists of 48 items. These include fresh takes on the Sack Suit, the Boxy Chino, the Duffle Coat, the Harris tweed blazer, the Oxford shirt, and the Shaggy Dog, a proprietary style of Shetland sweater that was an off-duty favorite of both President John F. Kennedy and actor Cary Grant.
In Snyder’s capable hands, The Sack Suit returns but in bold tweeds, stripes, and a yellow and black tartan. The Shaggy Dog sweater remains true to its Scottish Shetland wool pedigree but makes the scene in a Crayola-box worthy array of bold new colors—Orange Peel, Pistachio, and Granite to name a few. The J. Press oxford cloth shirt appears as a Repaired Oxford meant to simulate the perfectly imperfect look of a well-worn, favorite shirt that has been patched over time. The classic duffle coat gets refreshed in an orange camo pattern.
The collection is also a deep dive into Ivy League iconography. Chenille patches and J.Press’ bulldog mascot appear throughout the collection.
“J. Press has always been a little under the radar. You had to be in the know to know J. Press,” said Snyder. “So, we were excited to partner with them and take some of their classics and give them a little attitude. We also have taken some of our more modern pieces like our chore coat then J. Press-ified them by designing them in Harris Tweed.”
The Todd Snyder x J. Press collection launches Friday, November 19th, and will be available exclusively at toddsnyder.com and Todd Snyder’s Madison Park flagship location.
