TOM FORD INTRODUCES NEW COLORWAYS OF POPULAR WATCH

by Stephen Garner

Tom Ford Timepieces has launched three new colorways of its popular “Ocean Plastic Timepiece,” the first luxury watch made from 100 percent ocean plastic. The watch will now be available to purchase with vibrant blue, yellow, and pink braided straps.

The luxury brand debuted the blue and yellow colorways on Monday, which feature colorful braided watch straps that are interchangeable and set against a black matte dial retailing for $995, sold exclusively at Tom Ford boutiques worldwide as well as online at tomford.com. A third colorway with a pink braided strap is also available exclusively at Mr Porter for $995.

“When I think about summer, I think about colors that look great with summer skin,” said Ford. “In a way like swimsuit colors. Hot colors. This is why I am introducing three new vibrant colorways for the straps for our Ocean Plastic watch. Sustainability is increasingly important to us all and I felt it was important to continue to expand our strap selection as a way to accent the matte black Ocean Plastic watch.”

Every year an estimated 11 million tons of plastic waste enters the ocean. Every Tom Ford Ocean Plastic Timepiece purchased permanently removes the equivalent of 35 bottles of plastic waste from the ocean, with all packaging being recyclable.

This Swiss-made watch was developed and produced in partnership with suppliers who are equally committed to finding solutions to the world’s plastic problem. The timepiece is made of 100 percent ocean plastic collected from oceans, coastlines, and uncontrolled landfills. The material used contains no virgin plastics or non-ocean bound plastics and is traceable to the collection source. Transportation of the ocean plastic granules is carbon neutral and the compounding in Switzerland is powered by solar energy.
