TOMBOLO GETS READY FOR SUMMER WITH NEW COLLABORATIONS

by Stephen Garner

Popular vacationwear brand Tombolo has released two new capsule collections that has us ready for summer.

Debuting this month is the brand’s new “Fruits de Mer” matching shirt and swim short sets. The shirt features an embroidered bib design with digitally printed vertical stripes. The embroidery depicts ‘fruits de mer’ and mermaids who have tamed them. It has agoya shell buttons and a box pleat on the back for added ease of movement. The matching swim trunks feature a similar wraparound embroidery of plumes of bubbles that create a striped design.

“The bib design is unique in the market,” said Tombolo co-founder Chris Galasso. “Tuxedos have a bib of course but you’re hard-pressed to find one on a casual camp collar shirt. Both top and bottom are eco-friendly materials. The top is Tencel and the swim trunks are recycled poly.”

Next up is the brand’s second capsule with Mexican artist Ana Leovy. An engineered digital print of a hand-painted work by Levoy is featured on two shirts in this collection. Each print depicts whimsical revelers dancing under a lemon tree at both dusk and dawn. The shirt is made from Tencel — an eco-friendly fabric with properties that we adore. It’s silky and drapey while also being machine-washable and breathable.

Tombolo also produced a custom scent with Le Labo Fragrances to go along with its Ana Leovy-designed shirts. Each shirt will ship with a 1.5ml perfume sample that draws notes from the citrus tree depicted in the shirt.

“It was fun working with the team at Le Labo to pick a scent that we thought matched the feeling evoked by the shirt,” added Galasso. “Taking cues from the big lemon tree that dominates the scene depicted on the shirt, we selected a citrus scent containing floral notes of orange blossom and bitter grapefruit.”
