PRADA LEADERSHIP SHAKE-UP
To preface: the following information is decidedly confusing. Apparently, wearing multiple hats is both a fashionable business move and an interesting fashion statement (see lampshade-inspired headwear in photo) from this iconic luxury collection this season.
In a statement today by the Prada Group, (the parent company of Prada, Miu Miu, and recently Versace, Gianfranco D’Attis, the current CEO of Prada (the brand), will be stepping down. His position will be filled on an interim basis by Andrea Guerra, the CEO of the Prada Group.
The move has caused some confusion in the fashion world as the industry goes through a reshuffling of senior staff. For clarity, The Prada Group’s CEO is still currently Andrea Guerra, and Guerra will take on dual roles to include interim CEO of the Prada brand.
Those following the industry’s reshuffling might find some additional context for the situation. D’Attis only recently came to Prada from Christian Dior Couture. Christian Dior Couture has been in the headlines recently, with Jonathan Anderson being much-publicized as the creative director for the Men’s, Women’s, and Couture collections.
Additional confusion arises as D’Attis had been Co-CEO alongside Miuccia Prada, who wears multiple hats throughout the organization, including Co-Creative Director of the Prada Group and interim Creative Director of Miu Miu.
Miuccia Prada herself only recently assumed the position at Miu Miu, following the departure of Dario Vitale, who had replaced Donatella Versace as Creative Director of Versace immediately before the Prada Group acquired the Versace brand.
