When Miuccia Prada, the creative director of her eponymous fashion empire, announced earlier this year that she would henceforth be sharing design duties with Belgian designer Raf Simons – with the pair’s first joint collection to be shown this September – the fashion industry was abuzz. Prada, after all, is one of the most powerful non-group-owned brands in the world, with an annual turnover of around £3 billion, and much of the label’s continued success in the past few decades has been apportioned to the unique vision of Mrs Prada and Mrs Prada alone.
