Zara Owner Starts Making Protective Face Masks To Fight Coronavirus

The world’s biggest fashion retailer Inditex, owner of brands such as Zara and Bershka, is taking a €287m hit to inventories and is now focusing resources on helping the fight against Coronavirus by turning over supply chains to produce medical supplies. The Spanish group has said that its factories and logistics teams will now be made available to the Spanish government to create and donate surgical masks for medical workers and patients. In a statement, the company said they would be making a “delivery at least once a week of materials we purchase directly” to Spanish health authorities, who are dealing with one of the biggest outbreaks in Europe with over 17,000 confirmed cases on the 19th of March.
