A BATHING APE AND SPOTIFY COLLABORATE ON HIP-HOP PLAYLIST

by John Russel Jones

Digital music, podcast, and video service Spotify and streetwear brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE) have announced a new partnership. BAPE will take over Spotify’s flagship RapCaviar playlist—the world’s most extensive hip-hop playlist—with its classic camouflage design and feature Tennessee Rapper GloRilla on the playlist cover. Spotify’s RapCaviar is the go-to destination for essential rap music and has been an aspirational playlist for the next generation of rappers since launching in 2015.

The partnership features the Spotify logo in BAPE’s classic camouflage design, bringing together some of the most iconic and recognizable features from both Spotify and BAPE. Out-of-home billboard ads across the US and the UK will feature the partnership’s designs. On October 20th, as part of Spotify’s first-of-its-kind partnership with soccer team FC Barcelona, the LED screens at the match against Sevilla will feature these designs.

Spotify and BAPE are also launching an exclusive capsule collection through a unique re-imagination of the iconic Shark Hoodie and College T-shirt, both staples in global streetwear for over 20 years. For now, the collection has been shared with a limited number of people worldwide who have shaped and been champions of music and streetwear culture. On November 2, fans can shop the Shark Hoodie at the BAPE store in Los Angeles.
