American Dream Mall’s Retail Bet Gets Its First Test, As 60 Stores Open

American Dream, the shopping and entertainment complex in the New Jersey Meadowlands, now has the ingredient it needs to be called a mall – stores. American Dream’s owners don’t like the word mall. Ever since developers Triple Five took over the star-crossed project in 2011, they have preferred to call it a shopping, entertainment, and tourism destination. Ken Downing, the project’s chief creative officer, lately has been calling it an “all” – saying it has something for everyone. But the point of all that “all” – the indoor amusement park, water park, ski slope, and other attractions – always was to lure crowds that would shop at the stores. Read more at Forbes.
