AMSTERDAM’S CELEBRATED ‘DENIM DAYS’ FESTIVAL TO COME TO NEW YORK THIS MONTH
After three years of watching from afar as European denim geeks reveled in their indigo obsessions during Amsterdam Denim Days, American denimheads will finally get to do the same. New York Denim Days will bring the denim festival concept stateside from September 29 to October 1.
Set to bow at the Metropolitan Pavilion, located at 125 West 18th Street, New York Denim Days will connect denim insiders, designers and brands to consumers at an immersive denim-focused, consumer-facing festival.
The ranks of denim brands, retailers and artisans that have signed on for the first-ever New York Denim Days festival continues to grow. Hudson Jeans, Edwin, and Brooklyn Denim are a few the latest brands to join the festival along with Jean Shop and 3×1 to host a variety of initiatives on the New York Denim Days show floor, including workshops, pop-up shops and interactive displays.
Two notable denim bigwigs/authors will host book signings at New York Denim Days. Industry icon Amy Leverton, author of Denim Dudes and the forthcoming Denim: Street Style, Vintage, Obsession, will be hosting a book signing on September 30. And, Italian designer and author of cult-favorites Details: A Life With Denim and Number 2: A Life With Denim Piero Turk will make an appearance on October 1.
“I can’t think of a more beloved, democratic product in the world than a pair of blue jeans … and what better way to celebrate all things denim, than here in the greatest city in the world, New York, our hometown,” said Scott Morrison of 3×1. “Denim Days is a chance for everyone – literally everyone – to come together and celebrate, enjoy, and appreciate jeans and jeans-making in all its glory.”
“With the changing landscape of the retail industry worldwide, Denim Days is a great way for brands and services to present a specific experience directly to the consumer,” added Eric Goldstein of Jean Shop.
