Anthony Vaccarello’s First Saint Laurent Show Will Go Down In History
Anthony Vaccarello’s first venture for Saint Laurent’s menswear division was a show-stopping spectacle which saw him look back at the house’s glittering archive. Being his first menswear show since joining Saint Laurent in Spring 2016 and taking over from Hedi Slimane, all eyes were on him and his Spring/Summer 2019 collection certainly didn’t disappoint. Staying true to the vibrant past of the French house the whole collection (and catwalk show) was a dedication to the 1978 launch party of Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium fragrance. While the clothes were the talking point, the set was hard to ignore with the Manhattan skyline acting as a glittering back drop, just as it did that night 40 years ago. Watched by a stellar front row of Lauryn Hill, Selah Marley, Kate Moss and Travis Scott, the show was a celebration of all things Saint Laurent, but ready as ever for the 2018 man (although this collection will hit shelves in 2019).
