Barbour’s Color Explosion
Barbour, the English heritage outerwear brand, is launching a limited edition collection of its quilted coats, polo shirts, chinos, belts, bags and Wellington boots in bright colors. The collection is a collaboration with Pantone, the color matching service that’s become a sort of brand unto itself.
“Our collaboration with Pantone is all about color and offering our customers a fantastic choice,” said Ian Bergin, Barbour’s head of menswear. “Using Pantone’s unique color matching, which is second to none, we are able to offer a wide range of country colors in a series of contemporary products that not only reflect Barbour’’s country heritage, but are also fun to wear and practical for the summer months.”
The quilted jackets will come in a number of new colors, including turquoise and pink. The Barbour/Pantone collection will be in stores for spring 2014.
There will be more color in Barbour’s new Beacon Heritage collection too. Barbour continues its partnership with the venerable Savile Row tailor shop Norton & Sons and its creative director Patrick Grant for spring 2014. The inspiration for the season is the palette of the traditional fishing communities on England’s Northumbrian coast, from the painted boats to the weathered work clothes.
“When I came up to Northumberland, I loved the vibrant colors on the boats and the way they peeled and weathered over time,” said Norton & Sons’ Grant. “This is very much what happens to a Barbour jacket – it weathers and the colors and fabrics just get better with age.”
Added Barbour’s Bergin, “We are delighted to be collaborating with Norton & Sons for a second season. The simplicity and quality materials of Savile Row combined with the rugged inspiration and color that comes from Barbour’s heartland, the Northumbrian coast, make this a very bold and colorful collection which is perfect for spring/summer.”
