BILLY REID’S ICONIC SHINDIG RETURNS TO CELEBRATE THE BRAND’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Billy Reid’s Shindig, a celebration of all things creative by fashion designer Billy Reid, gathered talented musicians, chefs, and artists for an inspiring weekend in Florence, Alabama, from October 11th-13th, 2024. After a five-year hiatus, Shindig Revival No. 12 was a remarkable return to an event that Billy holds dear. The revival is a significant milestone, as the four-time CFDA winner celebrated 20 years in business this year.

 

Friday night’s special performances Included The Kills, Alison Mosshart, and Jamie Hince, who brought their signature gritty, blues-infused rock. Led by North Alabama native Matthew Houck, Phosphorescent’s performance at Shindig was a captivating experience that blended raw emotion with atmospheric beauty. A Nashville-based band, The Brook & The Bluff, originally from Birmingham, AL, blended expertly crafted songs with sublime musicianship. SistaStrings, the dynamic duo of sisters Chauntee and Monique Ross, brought a stunning blend of classical training and contemporary sound to the stage.

Saturday night brought the duo Gillian Welch and David Rawlings to the stage, as well as Abraham Alexander. Walt^n also performed with a backing band featuring his dad and band members from the Alabama Shakes, Motel Radio, and Carver Commodore.

 

Each year award-winning chefs concoct southern-inspired, mouthwatering creations for guests to experience at the Shindig.  This year’s line-up included Adam Evans of Automatic Seafood & Oysters and Current Charcoal Grill in Birmingham, AL. Bill Briand of Little Bird and Josh Quick of Odette’s also treated guests to their culinary delights, as did Sean Brock, a chef from rural Virginia who has been a leader in reviving Southern cuisine for over 20 years.

Reid also hosted a fashion show in the Shoals Theatre.
