BLOOMINGDALE’S LAUNCHES PROGRAM TO GIVE BACK TO LOCAL HEROES

by Stephen Garner

This month, Bloomingdale’s is celebrating its communities’ local heroes with Shop for Good, a campaign supporting twelve local charities across the country combatting the effects of COVID-19.

Shop for Good will come to life in-store and online with the opportunity for customers to donate to their local charity, along with in-store installations telling the story of the front-line workers behind the organizations.

From now through August 30th, Bloomingdale’s will give customers two ways to give back to their local heroes. Customers shopping in-store can round their purchase up to the nearest dollar to donate to their local charity. Online shoppers can make a contribution to the organization of their choice. Bloomingdale’s stores will also feature hero walls, which spotlight a group of heroes nominated by each local organization for their incredible work.

The list of charities the retailer is supporting and the corresponding markets include the First Responders Children’s Foundation (NY & CA); Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (FL); Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (Los Angeles); and Care for Real (Chicago, IL), among others.

In the spirit of celebrating heroes, Bloomingdale’s is also partnering with DC and Warner Bros. Consumer Products to offer a collection of products inspired by the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 film.

In New York City, Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship windows will feature Wonder Woman costumes, including the DC Super Hero’s golden armor wings. The fun continues at 59th Street with a special Wonder Woman 1984-themed Vespa offering complimentary summer treats to shoppers on August 14th and 15th. Select Bloomingdale’s stores will feature Wonder Woman photo installations where fans can strike a heroic pose. On bloomingdales.com, shoppers will find Wonder Woman inspired gifts, fashion, and footwear.

“Bloomingdale’s is proud to dedicate our Shop for Good campaign to hometown heroes and organizations that provide vital resources to our communities around the country,” said Frank Berman, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Bloomingdale’s. “These charity partners bolster our communities through medical, financial, mental health, and food relief-services. We invite our customers to join us in giving back and honoring these heroes.”

“Thank you, Bloomingdale’s, for shining a spotlight on our Foundation and for supporting first responders across the country,” added Jillian Crane, president of First Responders Children’s Foundation. “Contributions have an immediate and significant impact on the lives of our frontline heroes who are keeping all of us healthy and safe day-in and day-out. The need is greater now than ever before, and First Responders Children’s Foundation remains committed to providing financial assistance, college scholarships, and PPE to first responders and their families.”
