Bon-Ton Takes More in Milwaukee

NEW YORK – The Bon-Ton Stores will add 42,000 square feet of office space in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to accommodate a 100-person expansion of its private brand and store operations staffs.

The new space, in the Reuss Federal Plaza building, is across the street from the York, Pa.-based retailer’s existing space on West Wisconsin Avenue, where merchandising and marketing functions are housed. The new offices are expected to be ready for occupancy in July.

“With the addition of approximately 100 new associates to support our expanded operations, we have outgrown the original office space,” said Byron “Bud” Bergren, president and chief executive officer of Bon-Ton. “The private brand organization, which was purchased along with the Carson’s stores in March 2006, is an integral part of our business, and this additional space will facilitate the expansion of our private brands.”

Carson’s was sold to Bon-Ton along with other elements of Saks Inc’s Northern Department Store Group, which included Bergner’s and Younkers, among other nameplates. In a separate transaction, Bon-Ton later bought two Parisian stores in the Detroit, Michigan, market.
