by Brian Lipton

breitlingThe Breitling Jet Team, an aerobatic display squadron that is sponsored by the independent Swiss watch brand, will launch the second year of their American Tour at Sun ‘n Fun International Fly-In & Expo in Lakeland, Florida on April 8.

The team is comprised of seven pilots flying L-39 C Albatros jets in a sophisticated demonstration of precision and speed, at times reaching 565 mph and flying within just a few feet of each other. It will perform at 17 air shows in the U.S. and Canada in 2016, including the Bethpage Air Show in Jones Beach, New York; the Canadian International Air Show in Toronto, Ontario; and the Fort Lauderdale Air Show in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Breitling has released two limited-edition commemorative chronographs in conjunction with the Breitling Jet Team American Tour. The Chonomat 44 Breitling Jet Team American Tour watch is limited to 500 pieces and features a black steel case, onyx black dial, and distinct yellow accents, which mirror the colors of the Breitling Jet Team’s fleet of L-39 C Albatross, while the Chronomat GMT Breitling Jet Team American Tour, which has a limited edition of 250 pieces, was made to honor the very pilots that inspired its creation.

“The 2015 tour was really unbelievable as the Breitling Jet Team performed for thousands of people across North America, so we were really excited to bring the team back for the second year of their North American Tour,” said Thierry Prissert, president of Breitling USA. “The response from last year’s tour was overwhelming and the audiences who came out to see the team last year were simply amazing and excited. The team’s precision and synchronized movement perfectly encapsulates the essence of Breitling and our watches.”
