American-based design house Buscemi has appointed Rebecca Damavandi as its new chief executive officer. Damavandi comes to Buscemi with 20 years of brand building and executive leadership experience with a special focus on the wholesale, retail and global merchandising sectors.

As the brand sets to open its first flagship store during New York Fashion Week in September, Damavandi will focus on the growth and further developing of the women’s collection and the relaunch of its e-commerce site which is set to launch exclusive styles later in the fall.

Before joining Buscemi, Damavandi previously worked at fashion houses Vince, fashion group Kellwood Company and Elie Tahari and is known for being a merchant driven leader who demonstrates the ability to increase sustainable growth across all product categories.

“I couldn’t be more excited about Rebecca joining our team,” said Jon Buscemi, creative director. “I am thrilled to be working alongside such a talent. Her clear knowledge of where Buscemi needs to go and how we can get there will help unlock the brand’s potential. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

“I’m excited about the opportunity to partner with Jon and deliver a compelling product while building a best in class team, enhancing business performance and improving the customer experience,” added Damavandi. “Jon and I have a clear vision of where we want Buscemi to go and I look forward to taking the brand to the next level.”
