CLARKS TEAMS UP WITH BAPE ON FOOTWEAR CAPSULE
A Bathing Ape (Bape) has teamed up with Clarks Originals on a new capsule collection.
Crafted from the footwear brand’s historic partner tannery Charles F. Stead, the Clarks Originals x Bape range features a limited-edition Wallabee and Desert Boot in the year that marks the 70th anniversary of the original Clarks desert boot, which has remained unchanged since its release in 1950.
Every detail remains true to the original, from the length of stitching to the refined 220 last that each boot is formed around. While both profiles feature an ultra-comfortable leather lining and dual Clarks x Bape branding, the Wallabee features an extra-light outsole with unique “shark tooth” tread and signature Bape camo textile on a premium suede vamp, while the Desert Boot has laser printed Bape artwork – which is different on each foot in a pair – and Clarks’ signature crepe outsole.
To bring the collection to life, the two brands tapped Manchester City and England football player, Raheem Sterling, for the capsule’s campaign.
The collaboration is available to buy from Bape stores, Bape online, and Concepts, Bait, Undftd, Social Status, and Haven in North America, from August 8th.
Just curious, but how can something be unchanged if it has been refined? Doesn’t refining something mean it has been changed even if very slightly?
