CONSIDER A WRITING CORNER

by Karen Alberg Grossman

For luxury menswear merchants who have yet to expand their gift offerings, why not consider a writing corner? We were inspired by the prototype Pineider shop at Rockefeller Center, featuring a tempting made-in-Italy assortment of writing instruments, writing papers, leatherbound notebooks, briefcases, and the like, much of which can be personalized and/or embossed. Based in Florence and catering since 1774 to royals, artists, industrialists, and governments worldwide, Pineider products are still made under the demanding standards of Italian craftsmanship.

“This past year has been an exciting time for us,” affirms brand manager David Newlove, who brought along his talented team from Boglioli to manage the new 1200-square-foot shop. “The return to the office, face-to-face meetings and a notable uptick in real live events has given Pineider a great opportunity to make our mark in the United States.” (Editor’s note: there are also shops in Rome, Florence, Milan and Singapore, with London next on the agenda.)

Pineider’s Travel Desk Set, the ultimate gift for the writer in your life.

Newlove believes that Pineider, a family business now owned by the Rovagnati family, provides a strong opening for specialty retailers. “Many are coming off their best year ever and are looking for new and unique ways to engage their clients, and anniversary last year’s numbers. The Father’s Day gift capsules we recently created highlight the personalization options that are available: from embossing notebooks and pens to bespoke stationery. We’re now working with a handful of stores to launch their own Corporate and Executive Gifting departments.”
