CREDIT CARD SECURITY BREACH HITS BROOKS BROTHERS

by Brian Lipton

Brooks BrothersNational retailer Brooks Brothers has discovered that an unauthorized individual was able to gain access to and install malicious software designed to capture payment card information on some of the company’s payment processing systems at its retail and outlet locations.

As a result, customers who made purchases at certain Brooks Brothers and Brooks Brothers Outlet retail locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico between April 4, 2016 and March 1, 2017 may be affected. This incident did not affect any purchases made on the BrooksBrothers.com website nor does it affect any transactions at Brooks Brothers airport locations.

Based on its investigation, Brooks Brothers has concluded that this malicious software could have affected payment card data – including name, payment card account number, card expiration date, and card verification code; however, no sensitive personal information, such as Social Security numbers or personally identifying information was breached.

Customers are being urged to review credit and debit card account statements as soon as possible in order to determine if there are any discrepancies or unusual activity listed.
