NEW YORK – June De Fabio has been appointed vice president of men’s, young men’s, sportswear, clothing and furnishings at Macy’s Merchandising Group, effective April 30.

De Fabio succeeds Virginia Mainiero, who has assumed a similar role in Macy’s intimate apparel area, and, like her predecessor, reports to Stuart Goldblatt, senior vice president of men’s at Macy’s Merchandising.

De Fabio has been vice president of planning and distribution at Macy’s South. Prior to Federated’s acquisition of May Department Stores, she spent many years with May’s Hecht Co. division in roles including VP of ready-to-wear and VP of intimate apparel.

Prior to rejoining Macy’s in 1996, Mainiero worked at B. Altman and Chess King.

Speaking of Mainiero, Goldblatt told MRketplace.com, “She was a tremendous partner to me and a big asset to the men’s industry. We wish her the best with a big thank you.”
