Donald Trump Spent Over $200K On Hats Last Month
We didn’t think there would be a fashion angle in Donald Trump’s Federal Election Commission filings, which were released (along with Hillary Clinton’s and everyone else’s who ran for president this year) late Monday. And yet here we stand, chastened and rebuked. Among the things you’d expect a presidential campaign to be spending money on (bank fees, travel costs, catering for volunteers and the like), Team Trump has also shelled out a hell of a lot of money on those “Make America Great Again” hats. According to an analysis of the filings by Politico, Trump’s campaign spent $208,000 on headwear in May alone. Which means those hats (which you can buy for between $20 and $30 on Trump’s official website) are either selling like hotcakes and raising a lot of money—or the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee really, really, really likes them.
