Dream Weaver: The Story of Rhode Island’s Textile Workers (1983)

From the Depression until just a few decades ago, the textile industry was huge in Rhode Island. But over the years, most of the mills closed and moved south. After Owens Corning left Cumberland in 1983, WJAR aired a special broadcast called “Dream Weaver.” “You see, when my folks came from Canada, they had no place to go but textile,” said a man who was interviewed for the special. “That was it.
