DUNHILL ANNOUNCES CURATORS AND SPEAKERS PROGRAM FOR FRIEZE MASTERS TALKS 2024

by John Russel Jones

Dunhill has committed to supporting Frieze Masters Talks over the next three years and is pleased to share the esteemed curators and full speakers program for this year’s series. The second installment of this partnership will see the creative advisor of Frieze Masters, Sheena Wagstaff, and head of visual arts for the Barbican (an arts, learning, and conference center in London), Shanay Jhaveri, curate the award-winning content program, following Dunhill’s backing to return the talks to the fair last year.
Frieze is a modern and contemporary art platform dedicated to artists, galleries, collectors, and art lovers. Frieze comprises three publications, Frieze magazine, Frieze Masters Magazine, and Frieze Week; five international art fairs, Frieze London, Frieze LA, Frieze New York, Frieze Seoul, Frieze London, and Frieze Masters; No.9 Cork Street, a permanent gallery space in the heart of London; regular talks and summits, led by Frieze editors; and Frieze.com – the definitive resource for contemporary art and culture. Frieze is part of the IMG network.
Building on the inaugural collaboration in 2023, Wagstaff’s involvement in the program will see her role evolve for 2024. She hosted the previous conversation, ‘On Studios,’ with American sculptor Arlene Shechet.
Once again pairing influential international artists, such as Jeremy Deller, Nathalie du Pasquier, and Ming Smith, with leading industry figures Glenn Lowry, Lou Stoppard, and Zoe Whitley, the series will comprise several illuminating discussions across the five-day fair. Themed around the title, ‘The Creative Mind’, the conversations will invite the speakers to explore the creative thread across medium, geographies, and politics.
Hosted within the Dunhill lounge, designed in collaboration with Studio Boum, the space will offer an exemplary auditorium experience, celebrating the people and conversations of Frieze Masters within a refined and immersive environment.
“I am delighted that Dunhill will continue its partnership with Frieze Masters, an extended three-year sponsorship that will foster thought leadership within art, design, and culture through its exceptional talks program,” says Andrew Holmes, Dunhill CEO ad interim. “It’s an honor to welcome both Sheena and Shanay as this year’s respected curators alongside the renowned speakers who will bring the series to life. The collaboration perfectly aligns with both brands’ commitment to platforming cultural legacy and intelligent conversation.”
To launch the sophomore year of the partnership and following the success of last year’s kick-off event, Dunhill will host an engaging panel talk followed by an exquisite dinner within its iconic London flagship, Bourdon House, on Thursday, October 3rd. Emerging as a fixture of the Frieze social calendar, Polly Staple will moderate a conversation between Mark Leckey and Jenny Waldman ahead of the six further talks that will take place in the Dunhill auditorium at the fair.
Capturing the conversation, each talk will be recorded, and the resulting podcast series will be released weekly from November, increasing the discussions and contributing to the program’s commitment to public accessibility.
