by John Russel Jones

Dallas Market Center veteran Amy Harper has been promoted to senior vice president of retail development and market services and Brian Fillingim has joined the company as vice president of protective services.

Harper is responsible for the strategic buyer delivery initiatives for the Center, including retail development, major stores, and private buys. She is also responsible for market services including registration and market travel. She reports to chief operating officer Karen Ryder.

Harper has been with the company since 2001, managing an increasing number of responsibilities to drive buyer traffic to Dallas Market Center beginning with apparel and accessories, international, and then assuming leadership for all industries.

In addition to her leadership positions with Dallas Market Center, she has served in various roles with professional organizations. For Fashion Group International of Dallas, she served as regional director and is currently president of the Fashion Group Foundation. She also currently serves as a board member for Attitudes and Attire, a non-profit supporting women’s job readiness and self-esteem.

A Dallas law enforcement veteran, Fillingim is responsible for the security of the 68-acre campus of Dallas Market Center including more than 5 million square feet of interior space across four buildings. His responsibilities include risk assessment, emergency preparedness, security operations, and the coordination of protective services personnel. He reports to Cherie Marcum, executive vice president of finance.

Fillingim joins the organization after a fifteen-year career with the Dallas Police Department (DPD). He began with DPD in 2009 and spent nine years as a Police Officer/Senior Corporal on patrol. He then became a Detective in the Domestic Violence Unit for two years and, in 2020, a Detective in the Special Investigations Unit, where he investigated Officer-Involved Shootings, In-Custody Deaths, Cold-Case Murders, Wrongful Convictions, and High-Profile crimes.
