Express has announced that Matthew Moellering has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Express.

Moellering joined Express in 2006 and has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer since September 2011. He also served as interim president and interim chief executive officer of Express from January 2019 to June 2019. Before joining Express, he served in various roles with Limited Brands from 2003 to 2006 and with Procter & Gamble from 1995 to 2003. Prior to that, he was an officer in the United States Army. Moellering also serves on the board of directors of privately held L.L.Bean, Inc.

“Elevating Matt’s role to president reflects my immense confidence in his leadership as well as his importance to the future of Express,” said Tim Baxter, chief executive officer. “We on the Board of Directors would like to recognize Matt’s many contributions to the business, and I’d like to personally thank him for being my trusted partner and ensuring a seamless transition of leadership over the past three months.”

Baxter added: “Our executive leadership team reflects a balance of seasoned Express executives and those with fresh outside perspective, and this balance will better position us for the future as we focus on the four pillars of our corporate strategy: product, brand, customer and execution.”
