FIRST MENSWEAR H&M DESIGN WINNER DEBUTS COLLECTION
Parsons School of Design graduate and H&M Design Award winner, Ximon Lee, will launch a collection with the Swedish-based retailer to be sold online and in select H&M stores starting on October 22. The eight-piece collection for H&M, which Lee envisions being worn by both men and women, celebrates his passion for structure, fabric and volume, and features denim and embroidery.
Lee is the fourth winner of the H&M Design Award, and the first menswear designer to win the award, an annual prize that was founded to support and encourage design graduates at the very beginning of their careers. In addition to developing his collection for H&M, Lee also received a prize of €50,000 (approximately $56,000) and showed his collection at Fashion Week in Stockholm in January 2015.
“I am thrilled with Ximon’s collection for H&M. His bonded fabrics and structured shapes are really exciting, and show exactly why Ximon won the H&M Design Award,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor at H&M.
Lee was selected by an international jury, whose members included fashion designer and former journalist Luella Bartley and pop singer Lily Allen.
