FROM RUTH GRAVES, DESIGNER OF UNIQUE NECKWEAR AND ACCESSORIES
Ruth Graves is a New York-based neckwear and accessories designer who has been creating beautiful prints and patterns with the top mills in Como Italy (where she once worked) for many years. In addition to her signature designs, she also creates digitally printed scarfs and shawls that stores can customize from photographs. She is known for this customization and for her elevated taste level.
This was the best Pitti Uomo in years—so much positive energy and optimism. I heard many predictions at the show of a return to office, with a new focus on ties. They’re calling it “modern day classic,” but it’s far from boring. Echoing the free-spirited attitude of the Jazz Era, think the elevating energy of Miles Davis. Whether it’s a tie, scarf, colorful lapel pin or pocket square, there’s always an accessory for a personal touch.
As for clothing, the looser, more fluid fit is similarly classic but not boring, especially wide lapel double breasted suits or sport coats with DB overcoats! An earthy color theme prevails: olives, rust, mocha, blues, twists of melange pop colors.
Beautiful, creative knits looked fresh and salable. I also loved the impeccably designed Japanese-inspired boxy styles. Active/outdoor/travel wear was ubiquitous, often in nature-inspired colors and comfort fits.
If retailers buy it, wear it, and present it with conviction, we’re sure to have a fabulous fall 2025!
Great recap!
