Glenn Close Among ’07 Outstanding Mothers
NEW YORK – Award-winning actress Glenn Close will be among the 2007 honorees at the Outstanding Mother Awards, to be held Thursday, May 10, in the Grand Ballroom of the Pierre Hotel here.
Other honorees will be announced shortly, according to Thia Breen, chair of the National Mother’s Day Committee. In confirming her participation, Close joins tennis champion Pam Shriver among the honorees. The luncheon event will be hosted by Rosanna Scotto, Fox TV newscaster and a 2003 Outstanding Mother.
Close – who has won an array of Emmy and Tony awards and a Golden Globe award and been nominated for three Oscars – was born in Connecticut and raised in Africa. A graduate of the College of William and Mary, she is the mother of Annie, 17.
Proceeds from the event go to benefit Women in Need, a women’s, children’s and family charity.
The National Mother’s Day Committee is part of the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, which is headed by Stuart Goldblatt, president of the Macy’s Merchandising Group.
