HAPPY SOCKS RELEASES DAVID BOWIE-INSPIRED COLLECTION

by Stephen Garner

For spring/summer 2021, Happy Socks is honoring David Bowie with a special edition collection of socks for fans of all ages. Inspired by some of Bowie’s musical and visual performances, the designs are colorful celebrations of staying true to your own personal style in outstanding fashion.

Bowie expanded and exceeded the boundaries of the studio, stage, and screen like no other artist. He created some of modern music’s most influential and enduring work, as well as an unparalleled array of personas: Major Tom, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, and The Thin White Duke, just to name a few. Inhabiting and discarding these unforgettable characters at breakneck speed, Bowie’s commitment to exploration and experimentation challenged generations to re-think their definitions of musical genre, gender, and artistic expression.

“When we knew we were doing an homage to Bowie, we knew instantly that it should be a tribute to his unbelievably creative outfits,” said Paula Maso, creative director at Happy Socks. “Bowie was a shape-shifter like no other, and kept on surprising us for decades. It made sense for us to try and translate 8 of his most iconic looks into miniature: socks!”

The collection features single socks and gift boxes for adults and kids. The selection for adults includes six pairs of soft combed cotton crew socks as well as 3-pack and 6-pack gift boxes. The kids’ crew socks in organic combed cotton come in four different designs and as a 4-pack gift box.

The collection is now available on happysocks.com, in Happy Socks Stores, and at selected retailers.
