HATMAKER NICK FOUQUET COLLABORATES WITH LOS CABOS RESORT ON EXCLUSIVE HAT
Los Angeles-based custom hatmaker Nick Fouquet is teaming up with Rosewood Resort Las Ventanas al Paraíso, in Los Cabos, Mexico, on an exclusive hat for the resort. Fouquet (whose clients include Pharrell, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, and Tom Brady) visited the property to gather inspiration and worked closely with local Wixarika artisan Don Victor Florentino to design the piece.
Each hat is made of toquilla straw, a sustainably harvested, renewable resource created from the Ecuadorean plant’s large palm-like fronds, and woven into a braided texture. The original bead patterns are a nod to Florentino’s heritage and craft, while the colors are inspired by the surrounding ocean and land.
During a pop-up at the resort from March 23rd to 26th, guests will have the chance to work with the designer himself to customize their hats and embellish them with Florentino’s intricate Huichol beading. There will also be a larger selection of Nick’s popular hat styles available to purchase. The collection will also be for sale in the resort’s boutique following the pop-up and online a bit later.
