HIRO CLARK AND POKE ACUPUNCTURE COLLABORATION RAISES FUNDS FOR SOUTH FLORIDA LGBT-INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

by John Russel Jones

Los Angeles-based Hiro Clark is going beyond needles and thread to…well…just needles. Known for its selection of sophisticated, and sometimes cheeky, graphic T-shirts and sweats, the brand has partnered with queer-owned and operated Poke Acupuncture on a special T-shirt. A portion of the proceeds from the collab will go to PRISM, a youth-led organization working to expand access to LGBT-inclusive education and sexual health resources for young people in South Florida.

Russell Brown / POKE ACUPUNCTURE

Poke believes that acupuncture has always been political, from the Black Panthers using it to treat heroin addicts in the ’70s to practitioners in the ’90s using it to keep HIV patients out of hospitals. In the words of Poke’s founder Russell Brown, to be well in a sick world is political.

The Diet Poke T-shirt is short-sleeved, 100% combed cotton jersey and retails for $88.
