HSFI Honors Herschlag, Reese

by MR Magazine Staff

NEW YORK – Jack Herschlag received the Lifetime Achievement Award and Tracy Reese was named Designer of the Year Wednesday as the High School of Fashion Industries came pretty close to recreating the guest list at the National Association of Men’s Sportswear Buyers’ parties over the years. Joining Herschlag, former executive director of NAMSB, on his big night were not only NAMSB regulars like Marvin Blumenfeld, Mike Sperber and Charlie Alberts, but designers Joseph Abboud and HSFI alumnus Sal Cesarani.

Abboud, a loyal Red Sox fan who skipped Wednesday night’s game in the Bronx to present Herschlag with his honor, fended off questions from nosy reporters about the imminent conclusion of his non-compete period. (He’s “free” again in July and hinted that new ventures are in the works.)

Shown above, left to right, are Herschlag, Abboud, Reese and Vogue’s André Leon Talley, who introduced Reese. For more on HSFI’s NAMSB flashback, click here to visit Schmoozing.
