JOSH PESKOWITZ TO COLLABORATE WITH GLENNFIDDICH ON NEW MENSWEAR LINE
World-famous whiskey brand Glenfiddich will launch its first-ever menswear collection, Glenfiddich’s Wardrobe XXI, which will become available for retail for September. The capsule collection, which is to be created by a group of still-to-be-announced designers, is being curated by Josh Peskowitz, co-founder of men’s concept shop, Magasin, and former men’s fashion director at Bloomingdale’s.
To get a clear artistic vision for this collaboration with Glenfiddich, Peskowitz recently visited Scotland. He visited Edinburgh to witness customary kiltmaking practices at Nicolson Kiltmakers and avant-garde mixology at The Devil’s Advocate bar. In the city of Elgin, he observed the craftsmanship behind Johnstons of Elgin’s signature cashmere and fine woollen cloth. And, in the quiet Scotch-producing village of Dufftown, Peskowitz discovered the unique character of the Glenfiddich distillery where he met with the company’s dynamic Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, tasted from some of the finest casks the family-owned company has to offer and learned about the company’s rich history.
“One of the most inspiring things that I saw in Scotland was how a respect for tradition sat side-by-side with innovation at Glenfiddich’s facilities, to protect the integrity of the product—down to the preservation of their water source,” said Peskowitz. “Scotland was at the forefront of my mind when putting the collection together. Context is everything.”
