Joy Herfel to Lead Wholesale, Retail at Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren Joy Herfel will be promoted to a new position at Ralph Lauren, overseeing wholesale and retail, and Wayne Meichner is leaving the company, a spokesperson confirmed.

As Meichner, the president and chief operating office of the Ralph Lauren Retail Group division, exits, Joy Herfel, group president of men’s and children’s will become group president, wholesale and retail for the Americas.

Meichner became president and COO of the retail division in late 2008. He was responsible for retail stores and e-commerce. He joined Ralph Lauren in 2002 after 23 years with Saks Fifth Avenue.

Herfel has been with Ralph Lauren since 1989 when she was hired as a retail analyst. She became president of the menswear wholesale division in 1998 and was promoted to her current position in 2009.
