KITH TEAMS UP WITH WILSON

by Stephen Garner

Wilson has tapped Kith to develop a lifestyle sportswear collection of elevated wearables and hard goods. Timed to coincide with the 2021 US Open tournament that takes place annually at the renowned Arthur Ashe stadium in Kith’s hometown of Queens, New York, the collection is made up of 160 styles inspired by the sport of tennis, featuring staple Kith silhouettes reimagined through signature Wilson colors.

The men’s collection is comprised of 77 styles, ranging from on-court and off-court apparel to accessories and sporting equipment. The palette of the assortment stays true to Wilson’s DNA of khaki, green, and navy hues, as classic Kith silhouettes are brought to life through these colors.

Inspiration for the collection is seen across a range of outerwear such as suede and wool varsity jackets, double-knit coach’s jackets, and a Windsor paneled track jacket, while the versatile Tighe Collared Shirt also makes a return for this collection. Knits and fleece also appear throughout, reimagined within silhouettes including Kith’s Williams IV Hoodie, Williams I Sweatpant, Chatham Pant, and Jordan Shorts, as well as the recently introduced Pearson Henley, customized with co-branded logo flips.

More traditional tennis styles like polos and rugbies are also reinterpreted through custom tones and adorned with Kith & Wilson co-branded design elements on the front and back. Other styles include a range of knit on-court apparel such as compression shorts and henleys.  The assortment is rounded out by a wide range of tees offered in the brand’s classic and vintage executions.

The women’s assortment offers a 27-piece collection that features both on-court and off-court styles. The collection continues the same color palette, rooted in tennis optic white with dusty tones that are reminiscent of the court, as well as off-white, navy, and burgundy, to take a heritage approach.

The kid’s offering is comprised of 19 styles featuring kids-sized renditions of the men’s Kith for Wilson silhouettes. These styles continue the same palette and are seen across different styles for different ages, including onesies and coveralls for babies, and outerwear, fleece, knit, and tees for toddlers and tweens. Design language from the men’s and women’s lines were applied to the kids’ range, thus creating a cohesive full family offering.

To round out the collection, 37 accessories were created for men, women, and kids through the Kith lens, with their own co-branded design elements. These styles range from headwear such as caps, visors, and bucket hats to on-court accessories like sweatbands and headbands, as well as the iconic Wilson Pro Staff 97 Racquet and leather racquet bag, and a range of tennis balls. Alongside, a range of lifestyle accessories such as towels, socks, keychains, and a canteen created in partnership with Corkcicle round out the collection.

The Kith for Wilson collection releases Friday, September 3rd at Kith’s U.S. flagship stores and on kith.com.
