L.A. DENIM MAKER MOTHER LAUNCHES FIRST MEN’S COLLECTION
Made-in-L.A. denim purveyor Mother, known for its irreverent indie attitude and pioneering spirit, is expanding with its first-ever men’s collection.
Mother has long been pushing the envelope in borrowing from men’s silhouettes in its capsules by introducing oversized fits (Mother Superior) and gender bending collections (Love Your Other).
Launching today, the line will consist of three denim fits in four washes, all inspired by libations and the bar scene; The Joint (skinny), The Neat (tapered straight), The Chaser (universal straight), a denim jacket and shirt. A twill trouser, printed shirt, tees, zip hoodie and a jogger set round off the collection.
“As the women’s collection evolved we started to use men’s jeans, patterns, and fabrics for a ‘borrowed from the boys’ look,” said Tim Kaeding, co-founder and creative director of Mother. “We kept referring back to them and had so much built out in that area that it was only natural for a men’s collection to be the next step for us.”
In the U.S., Mother denim’s menswear collection will be available to purchase at Ron Herman in Los Angeles and on motherdenim.com.
