LES HOMMES CHANNELS A ‘MODERN CROONER’ FOR SPRING 2022

by Stephen Garner

Les Hommes unveiled its new spring/summer 2022 menswear collection this weekend as part of Milan Fashion Week Men’s. In place of a runway show, Les Hommes designers Tom Notte and Bart Vandebosch directed a video to present the new line, which also featured some looks of the Les Hommes Femme collection that will officially be unveiled in September during Milan Fashion Week.

This season, Notte and Vandebosch went for a tactile, functional, and luxurious collection dubbed the “Modern Crooner.” Pieces are structured and edgy, slim, and sexy. Looks include the combination of a biker-inspired trench with a skinny pant and – to add a touch of crooner charm -a printed silk scarf over a ribbed tank.

Printed silk is key this season with boxy shirts worn over shorts and a parka paired with loose pants in a matching combination. Trousers shapes range from the newest parachute and utilitarian pocketed canvas cargo; to the falsely easy tracksuit bottom; to the slim formal pant.

Beautifully cut coats and trenches define the mood. Bombers are printed, light, airy, comfor table, and extremely cool. Short-sleeved cotton shirts replace the casual jacket when the heat goes up.

Fabric selection includes foulard silk, light, and shiny cotton, techno varnish, Duchesse, poplin, and voile. Experiment is the trademark of the brand and hybrid items such as the spinnaker nylon mixed to heavy jersey tee shirt take research to the next level. Leather constitutes luxury, comfort, and a softness that still maintains a masculine edge. Glove Nappa is used for motorcycle pants and jackets, sharp shirting, and multi-pocketed bermudas.

Accessories are strong and comprise plain, jungle-printed and monogrammed Saffiano leather totes, backpacks, cross-body micro bags, and weekenders, along with big squared sunglasses and a baseball cap with metallic peak. Shoes make a statement with all-over studded lace-ups, optical white creepers, slip-on flats, and the signature Dominator sneakers now with gold hardware detail.
