MENSWEAR LABEL LE PÈRE DEBUTS ON THE WEST COAST WITH SECOND FLAGSHIP STORE ON MELROSE AVENUE
Menswear brand Le Père, has opened a new boutique on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, California. Building on the success of le Père’s New York flagship, the Los Angeles location deepens the brand’s commitment to community and creativity, delivering an immersive experience in art, fashion, and design.
Located at 8507 Melrose Avenue, just west of La Cienega Boulevard, the 1,100-square-foot space is an extension of its New York City flagship on the heart the city’s Lower East Side. Conceived by the creative team at Bond Architecture, the store is an open concept using natural materials and a clean palette of oak wood, concrete, stark white, and the brand’s signature sunny yellow to punctuate the space.
Where the New York store culled inspiration from a combination art gallery and private home, West Hollywood takes cues from a more relaxed West Coast vibe. It nods to skateparks and theaters by way of large wooden volumes for display, seating, and storage, juxtaposing form and function. The overall design is minimalistic and warm.
Bond founders Noam Dvir and Daniel Rauchwerger gave the room brightness and clarity while spotlighting the strength of le Père collections at the forefront.
“Le Père is a unique brand in the sense of community making. The block parties and performances that we’ve seen happening at their New York space have been awe-inspiring. When thinking about the LA space, we wanted to design for that spirit, and think of the store as an inviting space for gathering, a hang-out spot that will foster a community of its own. Keeping the design vocabulary relatively minimal, like its New York counterpart, the space is meant to provide a subtle background for clothes, people, and music,” says Rauchwerger.
Le Père Fall/Winter 2024 sees abstract forms and shapes incorporated across the collection with sportswear motifs. Referencing the aesthetics of typework, logos, and graphics on boxing and wrestling garments, many athletics-inspired silhouettes feature tongue-in-cheek wordplay and signature jersey kits. Blending novelty and subversive humor, this collection pays homage to films, music, and the cultural moments of the ’90s while remaining current. The brand continues to grow with a Made in Italy knitwear offering. Styles created in collaboration with Portland-based animator and illustrator Drew Tyndell feature multicolor mohair stripes and painted portraits on drop-shoulder wool sweaters and pullovers, showcasing his signature abstract head motif in expressive, geometric patterns.
