Dog-walking. My dad dog-walking. Ramblers en route to the pub. Possibly bird-watchers. Couriers. Campers. These are some of the images that come to mind when I think about the zip-up fleece top. Also: synthetic furry surfaces, zip pockets, maybe some Velcro and most likely a funnel neck. Anyway, that top and that fleecy fabric is part of a general move in menswear towards a look we’re calling: techy-hikery-outdoorsy. At Lanvin, Lucas Ossendrijver has been experimenting with this kind of mood for a couple of seasons. “The whole collection for autumn has an outdoors feeling,” he says from his design studio in Paris.
