MMG, de Fasson Join Forces
NEW YORK – MMG Corp. and Daniel de Fasson have formed a strategic alliance.
Premiere Neckwear Groupe, the luxury division of St. Louis-based MMG, will assume sales and distribution responsibility for Miami-based Daniel de Fasson’s eponymous designer neckwear collection. De Fasson will lend his design and marketing expertise to MMG, and it is expected that the two firms will work together to expand de Fasson’s brand into other product categories.
MMG and Premiere Neckwear Groupe are headed by Don Eisenberg as president. De Fasson’s business activities are conducted under the Designers In Motion umbrella.
MMG was founded in 1921 and is now under its fourth generation of family ownership. It started Premiere as a separate division last year and, in addition to the new Daniel de Fasson alliance, markets and distributes neckwear under the John Bartlett, Michael Newell and Jaymes brands.
Originally an architect, Daniel de Fasson designed a boutique for his father’s successful apparel store in Miami Beach. He later designed much of the merchandise sold at the store and founded his own firm, Designers In Motion, in 1989.
Currently, the firm’s product line is focused on neckwear and formalwear. “One of the many reasons for the collaboration with MMG is the mutual interest in the renewed growth of the DDF brand,” he told MRketplace.com, “to include additional products marketed internally as well as through licenses.”
